About the Author

I am a transfeminine and agender person (she/her) in my late 20s currently living in upstate New York. Game design is a hobby for me - one I take seriously and like to do my best at, but it's not making me real money, and it probably never will (which I'm happy with).

I started playing RPGs with 4e D&D, which was relatively new when I joined my first group as a kid. I did my durance as a 5e-head from when it was in playtest as "D&D Next" through undergrad, by which point I finally started branching out, first into bigger names in D&D's shadow like Call of Cthulhu and Blades in the Dark, gradually getting into more weird and indie fare.

Other quick-fire things about me that might interest readers:

  • I am a Marxist involved in local socialist organizing
  • I was an English major in undergrad; I do a bit of prose and poetry writing and I love reading and talking about good books and other media (hence the gigantic lists below)
  • I am a lifelong psychiatric patient/survivor
  • I currently work as a therapist in an unpaid graduate intern role
  • My favorite genre of music is new wave; some of my favorite bands are XTC, They Might Be Giants, Oingo Boingo, Adam Ant, Blue Oyster Cult, and Fountains of Wayne
  • My favorite genre of fiction is speculative fic/weird lit; some of my favorite authors are China Mieville, Michael Moorcock (obviously), Jorge Luis Borges, Ursula Le Guin, Shirley Jackson, Clive Barker, and Adrian Tchaikovsky
  • My favorite genre of movie is horror; some of my favorite movies are The Wicker Man, George Romero's Dead trilogy, Alien, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Candyman, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Funny Games, Rosemary's Baby, and most of John Carpenter and David Cronenberg's work
  •  Some of my favorite TV shows are The Prisoner, The Venture Bros, Star Trek (the original series and to a lesser extent Deep Space 9), Aeon Flux, Paranoia Agent, The Quatermass Conclusion, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Over the Garden Wall, The Booth at the End, Trigun (the original 90s one), LOST, The Lost Room, and Station Eleven (a couple of those are guilty pleasures. You can decide which)
